Volunteering and Internships
For many years, Abbondanza has hosted volunteers and WWOOFers (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) from Canada and far beyond.
Many volunteers create a lasting relationship with Abbondanza and come back for return visits. The work is rewarding, the learning is both fun and profound, the pond is refreshing, and the conversation over Gwynne's spectacular home-cooked meals is a real treat. In addition to the volunteers, Abbondanza farm also employes an intern for the farming season intern (May-October), and applications are welcome. Interested in visiting and/or working at Abbondanza? Testimonials
“I WWOOFed at Gwynne's farm for 2 weeks and loved every minute – definitely my favourite WWOOFing experience so far! She is a wonderful and interesting woman, and her farm is so vibrant, and full of colour and wildlife. I learnt a lot about biodiversity and heirloom varieties, and she patiently answered my stream of questions and taught me so much. I have so many good memories of swimming in her beautiful pond every day, eating wonderful food (she's an amazing cook), drinking coriander cocktails, going to her friend's cottage, learning about stone walls at Doug's, trying to catch the ducks... She is a brilliant host, making you feel very at home on her farm and including you in her life. I only wish I could have stayed longer (but hopefully I'll be back!).”
“Courtney and I spent 8 days with Gywnne and it was truly a fantastic time. This land is beautiful and bountiful and a great place to work and relax. Gywnne's ornamental kitchen garden demonstrates her knowledge and passion about organic farming and gardening. We stayed in the house and ate amazing garden-to-table meals with Gwynne and her friends. She is quirky, generous, kind hearted, hilarious and all around a wonderful woman. It was truly a home away from home experience. We had the opportunity to collect eggs in the morning, visit her at the farmer's market, explore Mansonville, prepare meals, read on the porch and help out with the many projects on the land of Abbondanza Farm. WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, ABUNDANT AND DELICIOUS!”
