Nous recherchons un stagiaire pour rejoindre l'équipe
pour la saison agricole 2019.
Voici les détails.
ABOUT US:
Abbondanza Farm is a small, diversified farm located in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, on the border with Vermont and an hour and a half from Montreal.
We are committed to the preservation of our agricultural heritage and to sustainable farming.
We produce over 40 different vegetables, herbs, and small fruit in our fields and greenhouse as well as raising laying hens, chickens, and turkeys.
We sell our produce at our local farmers market, through a CSA program, and at an urban farmstand.
The farm is also an educational centre offering a series of workshops each season in growing food and living sustainably. www.abbondanzafarm.com
As well as paid workers, we welcome volunteers from all over the world during the season.
We speak both English and French.
We work hard but we also love to have fun.
ABOUT THE WORK AND THE WORKING CONDITIONS:
We are looking for a Market Gardening Intern. This internship is a training position, 45-50 hours a week, Monday to Friday but also including some Saturday mornings, from May 1 to October 31.
You will have the opportunity to experience and learn about all aspects of vegetable production, from prepping beds to transplanting and direct seeding, weeding and watering, and harvesting, washing, and selling vegetables as the growing season evolves. You will also be asked to help out with the animals. Depending on your skills and interest, we may ask you to help maintain social media accounts.
Our agricultural approach is based on low-till, biointensive growing methods, as espoused by Jean-Martin Fortier, Eliot Coleman, and the Parisian market gardeners of the 19th century. We are non-mechanized, relying on hand tools and occasional help from our neighbors with machinery.
You will be working beside experienced farmers who are committed to training. We meet every morning to plan our day and assign tasks.
The job includes accommodation on the farm, 3 meals a day, and a minimum stipend of $150 per week which is negotiable based on your experience.
You will have one week paid vacation during the season. Other time away could be negotiated. There will be a 2 week trial period, so each of us can determine if we can work well together.

We are looking for someone who:
Has a serious interest in farming
Is open to learning

Enjoys meeting and communicating with people
Is good at working independently as well as in a team
Feels comfortable living and working with others
